Pregnant Women

Preparing for their dream pregnancy and birth

When back and pelvic pain in pregnancy starts, it’s easy to think “oh it’s just an ache and will go away tomorrow”. Or maybe you assume you just sat too long or slept in the wrong position.

Even worse, maybe you think “it’s normal” because you are pregnant and your baby is getting bigger.

Unfortunately, there’s a lot of bad information out there that causes women to live with low back pain, pelvic pressure, pelvic pain, and urine leakage in pregnancy for way too long. Most people get stuck trying to make a decision about what to do next. They go days, weeks, months without taking action (which can be dangerous to do if you are pregnant).

The one thing we can guarantee is that by doing nothing, your pain won’t get better. So the next important thing is to take action.

We at RRPT have helped many women in your exact position to prepare for a safe and comfortable pregnancy and birth. We are excited to help you have the best possible pregnancy you can.

Sandy helps treat breech babies and can help your baby naturally turn from a breech position to a standard position.

Breech Babies

Looking for options and support

Have your providers suggested the only option for a safe outcome is a Cesarean section? While this may be true in their practice, it is important to know and understand that there are options and you should be encouraged to explore all of them depending on your unique circumstances.

Have you been told your only option for turning the baby is an ECV (External Cephalic Version)? Being told your baby is breech may feel discouraging and daunting. The key point to remember is that there are options and techniques that can work for you. Your baby can be helped to turn by opening up your tight abdominal and pelvic areas, untwisting ligaments that support your uterus, and helping you learn positions that help your baby choose a better position.

We at RRPT have helped many women with your exact concerns to turn their babies and have an amazing birth. We also help you learn your options for birthing a breech baby vaginally.

Postpartum Moms

Wanting to get back to enjoying life

Do you feel like you never got your energy back since having kids and want to feel like you can keep up with your kids at the park and chase them around the grocery store without feeling exhausted?

When fatigue, pelvic pressure or urine leakage starts, it’s easy to think “oh it’s just a little bit and will go away tomorrow”. Maybe you think “it’s normal” because you just had a baby in the last few days, weeks or months. Maybe you think "it's normal" to experience pelvic pressure, fatigue, pain and peeing on yourself after giving birth.

We have helped women with your exact symptoms to regain confidence and return to doing what they love with who they love.

Is that how you're feeling right now?

If so, you are not alone. In fact, everyday at Resilience Restored Physical Therapy we help people across Northern Virginia who feel this way.

With body aches and pains and urine leakage in pregnancy, everyone asks us the same questions...

  • Why does my back and pelvic pain hurt so much? (I don’t even know what I did...)

  • Why aren't my symptoms going away?

  • Will my back and pelvic pain make it hard for me to have my baby naturally?

  • Am I going to have to live with peeing on myself or vaginal pressure and pain forever?

Unfortunately, there’s a lot of bad information out there that causes women to live with any of these issues for way too long. Here are the most common mistakes we see the people in Northern Virginia are making when it comes to back and pelvic pain and urine leakage during or after pregnancy..

Mistake #1: Thinking that back and pelvic pain in pregnancy will go away with rest.

Mistake #2: Believing that there is little or nothing that can be done to help fix your symptoms.

Mistake #3: Assuming back and pelvic pain and urine leakage is a “normal” part of pregnancy

Mistake #4: Believing that since you tried other healthcare professionals (maybe even Physical Therapy) in the past means that it won’t work now.

Mistake #5: Relying on “Dr. Google” or YouTube for exercises that didn’t make any difference (or maybe even made your symptoms worse!)

Mistake #6: Getting relaxing massages to temporarily relieve back and pelvic pain, only to find it comes back after the massage wears off.
